The Week in Shows (April 22-28)

There are nine major shows on the philatelic docket this week.

Today is the final day of the International Stamp Show of Montreal, Exup 44, which is being held at the Maison du Citoyen on 7501 Rue François-Perreault in Montréal, Que. The show is open today from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and there are more than 15 dealers on the bourse.

The last day of the Calgary Spring Bourse hosted by the Calgary Philatelic Society is also today at the Kerby Centre on 1133-7 Ave. S.W. in Calgary, Alta. The show will be open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and admission and parking are both free.

Today is also the 49th Plymouth Show at the Hellenic Cultural Center on 36375 Joy Rd. in Westland, Mich., which is about 30 minutes from the Canada-U.S. border in Windsor, Ont. An American Philatelic Society (APS) World Series of Philately exhibition, the Plymouth Show is hosted by the West Suburban Stamp Club and boasts nearly 40 dealers from across the U.S. and Canada. Among the Canadian dealers is St. Catharines, Ont.’s Roy Houtby, owner of Roy’s Stamps and a recent addition to the APS Dealer Advisory Committee. The show will also include more than 100 frames of competitive exhibits. Admission and parking are free.

THIS WEEKEND

Later this week, on April 28, Springpex will be hosted by the Hamilton Stamp Club at Bishop Ryan Secondary School on 1824 Rymal Rd. E. in Hamilton, Ont. The show will be open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and feature a 20-dealer bourse with stamps, postcards, covers and supplies.

Also on April 28 is the Scarborough Stamp Show, which will be held at the Cedarbrook Community Centre on 91 Eastpark Blvd. in Scarborough, Ont. The show will be open from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., and admission and parking are free.

The Kingston Stamp and Coin Festival will be hosted by the Kingston Stamp Club at the Ongwanada Centre on 191 Portsmouth Ave. in Kingston, Ont. on April 28. The show will be held from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., and admission and parking are free.

On April 28, the Sudbury Stamp and Coin Show will be held at the Parkside Centre on 140 Durham St. in Sudbury, Ont. The show will be open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Also on April 28 is the Valley Stamp Club Annual Exhibition and Sale, which will be held at the Port Williams Community Centre on 1045 Main St. in Port Williams, N.S. The show will be open from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and feature a bourse full of dealers, an exhibit display and an auction. Admission and parking are free.

Rounding out the week in shows is the Stamp and Coin Show, which will be hosted by the l’Association des numismates et des philatélistes de Boucherville (ANPB) at De Mortagne School on 955 De Montarville Blvd. in Boucherville, Qué. on April 28-29. The show will be open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and include 35 dealers. Admission and parking are free.
