The Salon du vieux papier de Québec, also known as the Quebec City Old Paper Show, an annual event eagerly anticipated by collectors, is making a significant change starting in 2025. This year, the show will proceed as planned on Oct. 26-27 at the Travelodge by Wyndham Hotel and Convention Centre at 3125 Hochelaga Blvd. However, from next year onward, the Quebec City event will be held in May instead of October.
This decision came after a scheduling conflict with the Salon des collectionneurs de St-Hyacinthe, which booked its shows on the same October dates. After careful analysis and discussions with the Travelodge hotel, the organizers have decided to move the Salon du vieux papier to the end of May. The new dates for the upcoming years are May 24-25, 2025; May 30-31, 2026; May 29-30, 2027; and May 27-28, 2028.
The organizers see this change as a positive development. By moving to the end of May, the Salon du vieux papier will be among the first shows of the year in Canada, reducing the likelihood of date conflicts with other events. Organizers added that this period is generally less crowded with exhibitions, unlike the busy September-October season for collectors.
