Finally, Verge signs iconic RDP

Long-time philatelist Charles Verge, of Toronto, has finally added his signature to the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists (RDP) following two years of pandemic-related postponements (“2020, 2021, 2022 RDP honourees to sign iconic roll in February,” CSN Vol. 46 #22).

Held at the Royal Philatelic Society London headquarters in England, the signing ceremony took place on Feb. 21 during the London 2022 international show and marked the 101st anniversary of the RDP’s establishment.

Verge, who was elected to sign the RDP in early March 2020 – a week before the COVID-19 pandemic began – was joined this February by 14 other signatories, including the 2020, 2021 and 2022 electees.

He’s the eighth Canadian and one of fewer than 400 people to sign the RDP since its inception. He’s also Canada’s sole living RDP signatory.
