‘Extremely fresh’ MNH 1908 Québec Tercentenary stamp at next Sparks sale

In a “perfect example where catalogue value is irrelevant as such quality is almost never seen,” a mint never hinged 1908 five-cent Québec Tercentenary stamp (Scott #99) is being offered at the next Sparks sale.

On May 25-26, Ottawa’s Sparks Auctions will host online auction No. 21, of which Lot 114 is the stamp issued in 1908 to mark the 300th anniversary of Québec’s founding. This mint never hinged example is “perfectly centered among four large margins, deep, fresh colour and extremely fresh.” It’s accompanied with a 2016 Vincent Graves Greene Philatelic Research Foundation certificate and has a Unitrade catalogue value of $450.
