Our third annual CSN Cover Contest is well underway with voting set to close in just a few days.
As mentioned in our cover story in the last issue (“CSN Cover Contest draws record entries,” Vol. 45 #14), there are several “firsts” to celebrate. This year, we received 18 covers altogether—more than the previous two years combined. The entries come from across Canada plus two U.S. states, California and Nevada, marking the first time collectors from south of the border are participating.
This year also has the highest stakes: the top three covers in both the individual/collector category and club category will win $100, $50 and $25, respectively. Altogether, the prize pool is now at $350—up from $225 last year and $100 in 2018, the contest’s first year.
And this year has also seen increased voter turnout with nearly 850 individual votes cast as of Oct. 29 (that’s more than double last year’s 391 votes).
On Nov. 1, we will announce the three covers in both categories that receive the most votes through the month-long voting period, which began on Oct. 1.
You have a few days left to vote, so here’s your final reminder to visit canadianstampnews.com/2020covercontest while you still can.
While we’re eyeing some minor changes for 2021 – including more focus on National Stamp Collecting Month – everyone at CSN is thrilled about the response to this year’s contest. I’ve already heard from a few readers, but in the meantime, feel free to send along any comments or suggestions to me via reporter@trajan.ca.
Many thanks to our participants for sending in a bunch of beautiful, well-designed covers—and to our readers for voting on their favourites.
