There are six major shows on the Canadian philatelic calendar this week.
Things kick off today with the closing day of Canpex 2017, one of Canada’s only annual national-level philatelic exhibitions. Held at the Hellenic Community Centre on 133 Southdale Rd. W. in London, Ont., the two-day show is sanctioned by The Royal Philatelic Society of Canada (RPSC) and part of the American Philatelic Society (APS) “World Series of Philately.”
Hosted by the Middlesex Stamp Club and managed by volunteers from various clubs and organizations across Southern Ontario, Canpex is open today from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission and parking are free.

As part of the competitive exhibition, there will be 150 frames of exhibits, a full list of which can be found by clicking here.
In addition to the competitive exhibition, the show will feature a bourse filled with about 20 dealers from across Canada.
Canadian Stamp News and Coin & Stamp Supplies will be manning tables #1-2 at the show. A full list of dealers can be found here.
TRANS-ATLANTIC CARLING FLIGHT
Each year, Canpex recognizes a significant event or milestone in the history of the area. In 1927, Carling Brewery sponsored a trans-Atlantic flight from London, Ont. to London, England. The plane was named the Sir John Carling, but both it and its pilots—Terence Tully and James Medcalf—disappeared over the Atlantic Ocean. This year marks 90 years since the ill-fated flight.
Two covers, each franked with a specially-produced, limited-edition commemorative stamp, will be available for $5 each.
A third Canpex 2017 commemorative cover franked with one of the 10 Canada 150 stamps issued by Canada Post earlier this year, will also be available for $5.
TROYAK SHOW
Also taking place today is the Mississauga Coin and Stamp Show, which will be held at the John Paul II Polish Cultural Centre on 4300 Cawthra Rd. in Mississauga, Ont. Sponsored by the Troyak Club, the show will be open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and feature more than 30 dealers and 60 dealer tables.
