Collectors will find several new faces on the bourse floor when the National Postage Stamp & Coin Show returns to the Hilton Mississauga/Meadowvale on Sept. 12-13.
Six dealers who have not previously participated in the show are joining the fall lineup, adding new inventories and areas of expertise to a bourse that will feature more than 60 professional numismatic and philatelic dealers from across Canada.
The newcomers are Britannia Numismatics, represented by Stephen Oatway; Covernutz, represented by George Kaltenecker; NumisNation Coin Store Inc., represented by Nazariy Tretyak; Ricky’s Coins, represented by Rick Pennefather; Sparks International, represented by Peter MacDonald; and St. George Auctions, represented by Ethan Wright.
Their addition continues the growth of the twice-annual National Show, which brings together collectors and dealers in both numismatics and philately.
“It’s always exciting to welcome new dealers to the show,” said show organizer Mike Walsh. “Collectors come because they want selection, and adding new dealers means new inventories and different areas of expertise for them to explore.”
The mix of newcomers also strengthens both sides of the National Show, with specialists in coins and numismatics joining dealers offering stamps, covers and postal history.
Dealers throughout the bourse will be buying as well as selling, giving collectors an opportunity to bring in material for possible sale or appraisal and to discuss their collections directly with experienced professionals.
The 9,000-square-foot Graydon Ballroom will offer Canadian and worldwide coins, banknotes, stamps, covers, postal history, postcards, tokens, medals, bullion and other collectibles, along with collecting supplies. Material will range from affordable items for beginning collectors to important pieces aimed at advanced specialists.
ST. GEORGE AUCTION DEBUTS
Another significant addition this fall is St. George Auctions, which is making its debut as the official auction service of the National Postage Stamp & Coin Show.
The New Brunswick auction house will conduct its 311-lot fall sale on Saturday, Sept. 12. Collectors attending the show will be able to view lots in person before the auction, while successful bidders will have an opportunity to pick up their purchases at the show on Sunday.
A 1936 Canadian 50-cent piece graded PCGS MS-64 and pedigreed to the Victoria Collection is among the featured lots. Other highlights include a 1937 matte specimen cent graded ICCS SP-67 Red and a 1933 10-cent piece graded PCGS MS-66.
The sale also features coins with pedigrees tracing to several important collections, including Norweb, Stewart Blay, John Jay Pittman and James E. Charlton.
While high-grade Canadian material is a major component of the auction, St. George President and Head of Consignments Ethan Wright has emphasized that the sale was assembled to appeal to collectors at different levels. The 311 lots span numerous dates, denominations and grades, with some pieces expected to sell for less than $100.
The online auction begins at 6 p.m. ET Saturday.
CRIME STOPPERS RETURNS
Peel Crime Stoppers will also return to the fall National Show after making its debut at the September 2025 event.
The organization will once again bring its community-safety message directly to collectors, dealers and families attending the show. A number of its Peel Region police partners are also expected to be in attendance.
Crime Stoppers’ participation provides an opportunity for collectors and dealers to speak with representatives about crime prevention and security – particularly relevant topics in a hobby involving valuable and easily transportable collectibles.
Its first appearance at the National Show last September followed the release of a Peel Crime Stoppers TIPS podcast focusing on counterfeit coins. The program featured counterfeit-coin expert and longtime Canadian Coin News contributor Mike Marshall discussing how counterfeit coins can be identified and measures that can be taken to combat the problem.
The return of Crime Stoppers and its police partners adds another community component to a show traditionally centred on buying, selling, education and bringing collectors together.
YOUTH AUCTION RETURNS
Young collectors will again have their own activities during the weekend, including the popular free Youth Auction on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Organized with the support of Royal Canadian Numismatic Association Youth Program co-ordinator Cassidy Stroud, the event gives children under 16 an opportunity to experience the excitement of a live auction without spending any money.
Each participant receives play money to bid on coins, stamps, banknotes and collecting supplies, and winning bidders get to keep their purchases at no cost. A short workshop before the auction helps newcomers learn how bidding works.
A dedicated youth table will also be available during the weekend with activities and material aimed at encouraging youngsters to become involved in collecting.
“Shows have to be about more than simply buying and selling,” Walsh said. “We want experienced collectors to find material they’ve been looking for, but we also want a youngster walking into a coin or stamp show for the first time to have a reason to get excited about collecting.”
Presented by Canadian Coin News and Canadian Stamp News, the National Postage Stamp & Coin Show is held twice annually at the Hilton Mississauga/Meadowvale, 6750 Mississauga Rd., conveniently located near Highway 401.
The bourse opens at 10 a.m. both days, running until 5 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $6 Saturday and $3 Sunday, with children under 16 admitted free. Complimentary parking is available.
