Post Luxembourg, a government-owned national postal service, has won the 2023 Europa competition hosted by PostEurop, a trade association representing public European postal operators.
Nearly 30 European postal services entered a stamp in this year’s competition, whose theme was simply peace, “the highest value of humanity.”
“I am extremely happy to see so many European postal operators committed to this joint 2023 Europa stamps theme,” said Agnieszka Trząskowska, who heads PostEurop’s stamps and philately working group. “The winning design from Post Luxembourg has been successfully adopted by our members, who were able to perfectly integrate this common design idea within their portfolio. This unity amongst our members has made the project a great success.”
The stamp’s design concept originated from Ukraine’s national postal service Ukrposhta, which requested PostEurop and its members “demonstrate their solidarity” with the war-torn country, which fell victim to a renewed Russian invasion in early 2022.
Post Luxembourg’s issue, “The New Peace Symbol,” stood among all 29 entries in the 2023 competition as the most popular design by the 44 postal companies participating in the voting process.
