New Brunswick capital to host RPSC convention for first time in 25 years
For only the second time ever, the annual convention of the Royal Philatelic Society of Canada (RPSC) will be held in New Brunswick.
From Sept. 20-22, members of “Canada’s national stamp club” will gather in Fredericton for the highly anticipated event. The Royal *2024* Royale convention will be hosted by the Fredericton District Stamp Club (RPSC Chapter 148).
“Our members have a wide variety of collections,” said Dianne Earl, president of the Fredericton club. “We have specialized collectors, award-winning collectors, and those who collect stamps from all over the world.”
Fredericton last hosted the Royal convention in 1999. More recently, it hosted the British North America Philatelic Society’s annual convention (BNAPEX) in 2016. The club was also set to host the 2020 Royal convention, but it was cancelled due to COVID-19.
“We have a strong organizing committee,” said Rob Lunn, convention chair and a fellow of the RPSC. “All members were involved in the BNAPEX show in 2016, bringing a wealth of experience. Some were also part of our 1999 Royal convention.”
Lunn is excited to bring the Royal back to the Maritimes, building on the “very positive feedback” from BNAPEX 2016. “Atlantic Canadian hospitality and experience are key to our success. We strive to ensure everyone has a great time and truly experiences what Atlantic Canada has to offer.”
