After the cancellation in 2020 and a more than 20-year hiatus since 1999, the Royal *2024* Royale is set to make a triumphant return to Fredericton, N.B., Sept. 20-22.
Rob Lunn, chair of the event, described the anticipation and enthusiasm surrounding this significant philatelic gathering.
“The club is excited about the opportunity to finally host the Royal,” Lunn said. “For many of the local collectors, this will be their first time attending a show of this size. The chance to interact with prominent full-time dealers will provide an invaluable opportunity to fill gaps in their collections.”
The Royal*2024*Royale is the annual convention of the Royal Philatelic Society of Canada (RPSC).
The mood among the organizing committee, local collectors, and the general public is palpable as the event approaches.
“Down East hospitality is certainly a draw for many ‘Upper Canadians,’” Lunn noted. “It is friendly and inviting, and we are looking forward to showcasing that. For those wanting to spend a few extra days in the area, there are many beautiful natural sites to visit.”
The exhibition promises a diverse array of collections, with applications already received for exhibits that have won high awards nationally and internationally.
“There will be a good showing of Atlantic Canada material covering early New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland philatelic material,” Lunn revealed. “It’s an opportunity to see wonderful and rare items that may not have been seen by folks from outside the region.”
