The black T-shirt made its debut at the Sept. 12-13 show in Mississauga, Ont., where collectors had their first opportunity to purchase the new shirt. It is now available online through CoinStampSupplies.com or directly from the Canadian Stamp News office.
The front of the shirt features the Canadian Stamp News name above a large “50” created using images of just a few of the many Canadian stamps issued during the magazine’s first five decades. A banner marks “50 Years,” with 1976-2026 appearing below the design along with the words “Informing • Inspiring • Connecting Collectors.”
Made from heavy cotton, the shirts were produced using Canadian material and screen printed by a local business in Welland, Ont. Keeping as much of the production as possible close to home was an important consideration in creating the anniversary shirt.
Canadian Stamp News published its first issue in 1976 and has been reporting on Canada’s stamp collecting community ever since. The commemorative shirt was created as both a celebration of that history and something collectors can wear to shows, club meetings and other philatelic events throughout the anniversary year.
