The Week in Shows (Sept. 10-16)

It’s the second week of September, and there are four major stamp shows on the docket.

Later this week, on Sept. 16, the monthly Burloak Stamp Fair will return to Burlington, Ont.’s Seniors’ Centre on 2285 New St. A regular monthly gathering for the past two decades, the show is slated to feature about nine dealers buying and selling a range of philatelic material from 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Also on Sept. 16—and just down the road from Burlington—is the Best Western Stamp Show, being held in the Niagara Room of St. Catharines’ Best Western Hotel. The show is open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and features free parking, admission and appraisals. The show is sponsored by local dealer Roy Houtby, owner of Roy’s Stamps, which specializes in stamps and covers of Canada and the British Commonwealth.

Another Ontario show will be held on Sept. 16 at the U.K. Club on 35 International Village Dr. in Cambridge, Ont. The Cambridge Stamp Club’s annual show and bourse will be open from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and feature 10 dealers as well as club books and an auction. Admission and parking are free.

VERNON, B.C.

Rounding out the week in shows is the Vernon Stamp Show and Bourse, which will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at The People Place on 101 3402 27 Ave. in Vernon, B.C. Sponsored by the Okanagan Mainline Philatelic Society, the show boasts free admission as well as a door prize and a stamp auction.
