There are four major shows on the docket this week.
Today is the final day of AAPEX2017, the annual show of the Ann Arbor Stamp Club. The two-day show is being held in the Morris Lawrence Building at Washtenaw Community College on 4800 E. Huron River Dr. in Ann Arbor, Mich., which is less than an hour from the Canada-U.S. border in Windsor, Ont. The bourse features 29 dealers from seven U.S. states; a range of philatelic exhibits; a youth area; and United Nations Postal Administration as well as U.S. Postal Service booths, both of which will have current issues. Admission and parking are free.
SUDBURY COIN & STAMP SHOW
Today, the Sudbury Stamp Club and Nickel Belt Coin Club will host the Sudbury Coin and Stamp Show at Dynamic Earth on Big Nickel Rd. in Sudbury, Ont. from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
The show will include informative displays, a range of expert dealers and a series of presentations, including a fraud seminar hosted by the Greater Sudbury Police. Admission is $2, and children aged 14 and under are free.
UKRAINEPEX
Later this week, on Nov. 10-11, the Ukrainian Philatelic and Numismatic Society’s international exhibit Ukrainepex 2017 will be coming to The Old Mill’s Brule Room (21 Old Mill Rd. in Toronto, Ont.). Hosted by the Ukrainian Collectibles Society (Toronto), the exhibit includes comprehensive philatelic and numismatic material in addition to medals, postcards, sport cards and more. The exhibit will be open to the public from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. both days, and admission is free.
During the two-day event, two Picture Postage stamps will be released—one to honour Victoria Cross winner Filip Konowal while the second will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Ukrainian World Congress.
The event is being held in conjunction with the Ukrainian World Congress’ conference “Shaping the Future.”
POSTALIA 2017
Rounding out the week in shows is Postalia Fall 2017, which will be held at the SFPQ banquet hall on 5100 Boul. des Gradins in Québec City, Qué. on Nov. 11-12. The exhibition and show will include 25 dealers of various material. The bourse will be open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and admission and parking are free. The event is co-ordinated by five regional hobby organizations, including:
- la Société philatélique de Québec (Philatelic Society of Quebec);
- la Société d’histoire postale du Québec (Postal History Society of Quebec);
- la Société des numismates de Québec (Numismatic Society of Quebec);
- le Club des cartophiles québécois (Quebec Postcard Club); and
- les Samedis du timbre de la Fédération québécoise de philatélie.
