The Week in Shows (Nov. 13-19)

There’s no shortage of philately in Canada this fall.

On Nov. 13, the Troyak Club is hosting its Fall Stamp and Coin Show at John Paul II Polish Cultural Centre on 4300 Cawthra Rd., in Mississauga, Ont. The show will run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., with more than 30 dealers and 60-plus dealer tables.

NEWFOUNDLAND SPECIALIZED PUBLISHER

On Nov. 17, you’re invited to meet Newfoundland’s John M. Walsh at the Vincent Graves Greene Philatelic Research Foundation on 10 Summerhill Ave, in Toronto, Ont. He will also be the guest speaker at the annual banquet of the Philatelic Specialists Society of Canada the following evening.

Walsh, owner of Walsh’s Philatelic Service in St. John’s, Nfld., and publisher of the Newfoundland Specialized Stamp Catalogue and British North America Specialized Stamp Catalogue, has been selling and appraising Newfoundland stamps for more than 40 years. In 2011, he was named a Fellow of The Royal Philatelic Society of Canada.

NEW BRUNSWICK

On Nov. 18, the Moncton Stamp Fair will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion on 100 War Veterans Ave., in Moncton, N.B. The show will be open to the public from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and admission and parking are free.

BURLINGTON, ONT.

The monthly Burloak Stamp Fair is scheduled for Nov. 19. Open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Burlington Senior Centre on 2285 New St., the monthly show has been held regularly for the past 19 years. It boasts upwards of nine dealers as well as active buyers.

TORONTO

Also on Nov. 19, the North Toronto Stamp Club will host its Winter Postage Stamp Bourse at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church on 1585 Yonge St., in Toronto, Ont. The bourse will be open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and admission is free. There will be more than 20 dealers and 100 sales circuit books, including recent issues, to peruse.
