The Week in Shows (May 5-11)

There are six major stamp shows taking place in two Canadian provinces this week.

First up is the final day of Orapex 2019, which will conclude today at the RA Centre on 2451 Riverside Dr., in Ottawa.

This year’s show theme is “Elizabethan-Era Philately,” and the bourse will be open today from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission and parking are both free, and the venue is wheelchair accessible.

TIMMINS STAMP & COIN SHOW

Also being held today is the Timmins Stamp and Coin Show, which is jointly hosted by the Timmins Stamp Club and Timmins Coin Club at the McIntyre Complex on 85 McIntyre Rd., in Timmins, Ont.

Open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., the event is Ontario’s most northern coin and stamp show and is well attended by collectors from around northeast Ontario. With free admission and parking, the show features several dealers, silent auctions, exhibits, club tables and door prizes.

STRATFORD MAYDAY SHOW

Today will also see the Stratford Mayday Stamp Show come to the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans Unit at 151 Lorne Ave. E., in Stratford, Ont.

The 36th annual show hosted by the Stratford Stamp Club will be open from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and feature a bourse, exhibits, “Mayday” covers and door prizes. Admission and parking are free.

BEST WESTERN STAMP SHOW

On May 11, the Best Western Stamp Show – sponsored by Roy’s Stamps – will return to the Best Western Hotel’s Niagara Room on  2 North Service Rd., in St. Catharines, Ont.

Open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., this show also boasts free parking, free admission and free appraisals.

MONCTON STAMP FAIR

Also on May 11, the monthly Moncton Stamp Fair will return to the Royal Canadian Legion on 100 War Veterans Ave., in Moncton, N.B.

Held each month from October to May by the Fundy Stamp Collectors Club, the show runs from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and boasts free admission, free parking and a silent auction. There are usually between four and six dealers, and a live auction starts at 1 p.m.

LAMPEX 2019

Rounding out the week in shows is Lampex 2019, which will be hosted May 11 by the Sarnia Stamp Club at Great Lakes Secondary School on 275 Wellington St. S., in Sarnia, Ont.

Open from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., the show boasts free admission and parking.
