The Week in Shows (March 31-April 6)

There are five major stamp shows taking place in four provinces this week.

First up is Lakeshore 2019 – the 56th annual show and exhibition of the Lakeshore Stamp Club – which will be held April 5-6 at Sarto-Desnoyers Community Centre on 1335 Lakeshore Dr., in Dorval, Qué.

With about 100 exhibit frames and more than 20 dealers on the bourse, the show will be open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. both days. Admission and parking are both free.

MEDICINE HAT COIN & STAMP SHOW

On April 6, the Medicine Hat Coin and Stamp Show will be hosted by the Medicine Hat Coin and Stamp Club at the Higdon Hall Stampede Grounds on 2055 21 Ave. S.E., in Medicine Hat, Alta.

Open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., the bourse will feature more than 40 tables of philatelic and numismatic material from dealers from across Alberta and Saskatchewan. Door prizes will be drawn, and admission is $2 (but children accompanied by a paying adult are free).

MONTHLY MONCTON STAMP FAIR

Also on April 6, the monthly Moncton Stamp Fair will return to the Royal Canadian Legion on 100 War Veterans Ave., in Moncton, N.B.

Held each month from October to May by the Fundy Stamp Collectors Club, the show runs from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and boasts free admission, free parking and a silent auction. There are usually between four and six dealers, and a live auction starts at 1 p.m.

TWO ONTARIO SHOWS

Two Ontario shows will also be held April 6.

The first – Lonpex 2019 – will be held by the London Philatelic Society at the Ramada Inn on 817 Exeter Rd., in London, Ont. The society’s annual show, it will be open from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. with 12 dealers. Admission and parking are both free.

Lastly, the Best Western Stamp Show – sponsored by Roy’s Stamps – will return to the Best Western Hotel’s Niagara Room on  2 North Service Rd., in St. Catharines, Ont. Open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., this show also boasts free parking, free admission and free appraisals.
