The Week in Shows (Jan. 20-26)

There are five shows slated to take place across three provinces this week.

In Ontario, the Scarborough Stamp Club Show will be coming to the Cedarbrook Community Centre on 91 Eastpark Blvd., in Scarborough on Jan. 26. With five- and 10-cent club circuit books plus individually priced items and upwards of four dealers, the show boasts free admission and parking.

Also on Jan. 26 is the 70th Cathex, which will be hosted by the St. Catharines Stamp Club at the Grantham Lions Club on 732 Niagara St. in the club’s home town. Open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., the show will feature 12 dealers, club circuit books, a youth area, a lunch counter and free admission and parking.

BRITISH COLUMBIA

Out west, the Coins, Stamps and Collectibles Show will also be hosted Jan. 26 by the North Shore Numismatic Society.

Held at the Nikkei Centre on 6688 Southoaks Cres., in Burnaby, B.C., the show will be open from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and feature 40 tables of stamps, coins, banknotes, tokens, medals, postcards, art, pins and more. Admission is $2 (or free for children under the age of 16 if accompanied by an adult), and free underground parking is available.

The Lake Country Okanagan Mainline Philatelic Association Stamp Show and Bourse will also be held Jan. 26 at the Senior Activity Centre on 9832 Bottom Wood Lake Rd., in Lake Country.

Open from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., the show will include door prizes, an auction and free admission. It’s one of several shows hosted by the Okanagan Mainline Philatelic Association throughout the year.

QUÉBEC

Lastly, in “la belle province” on Jan. 26-27, the aptly named Coin and Stamp Show will return to De Mortagne School on 955 Boulevard de Montarville in Boucherville, Qué.

Sponsored by the Association des Numismates et des Philatelistes de Boucherville, the show will feature 35 dealers.

The show will be open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. both days, and both admission and parking are free.
