The Week in Shows (April 28-May 4)

There are five major stamp shows taking place in three Canadian provinces this week.

First up is today’s Apex 2019 Stamp and Coin Show, which is being hosted by the Ajax-Pickering Stamp Club at the Pickering Recreation Complex on 1867 Valley Farm Rd., in Pickering, Ont.

Open from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., the show boasts free admission and parking and will feature club lots plus 10-cent books and youth tables for young collectors.

AMPEX 2019

Today is also Ampex 2019, which is being hosted by the Fraser Valley Philatelic Club at W. J. Mouat Secondary School on 32355 Mouat Dr., in Abbotsford, B.C.

There will be several dealers buying, selling and trading material plus door prize draws for attendees. Admission and parking are free.

STAMPSHOW ’19

On May 3, the Winnipeg Philatelic Society will host StampShow ’19 at the Sunova Centre on 48 Holland Rd., in West St. Paul, Man.

The show will feature 50 frames of competitive and non-competitive exhibits, show covers, upwards of 10 dealers and a youth table. Admission and parking are free.

ORAPEX 2019

On May 4-5, Orapex 2019 will return to the RA Centre on 2451 Riverside Dr., in Ottawa.

This year, Orapex is recognizing “Elizabethan-Era Philately” as the show theme. The show will be open to the public on May 4 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and on May 5 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Admission and parking are both free, and the venue is wheelchair accessible.

SAUGEEN SHOW & EXHIBITION

Rounding out the week in shows is the Annual Saugeen Stamp Club Show and Exhibition, which will be hosted by the Saugeen Stamp Club at the Hanover Knights of Columbus Hall on 963 Bruce Rd. 4 in Hanover, Ont.

Open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., the show will feature 12 dealers, competitive exhibits and free parking and admission. Organizers will also be donating free stamps to youth attendees.
