Summit Series issue postponed until later this month

Canada Post has postponed its next issue, honouring what the Crown corporation teased as “a cheer heard around the country,” originally planned for a Sept. 2 release.

It’s believed the issue will mark the 50th anniversary of the 1972 Summit Series, an iconic eight-game hockey series that took place in September of that year.

Canada Post media relations director Phil Legault confirmed the stamp will be issued later this month.

“We look forward to providing more details at that time,” Legault told CSN.

Aside from the Summit Series issue, Canada Post’s next stamp releases include:

  • the annual Canada Post Community Foundation semi-postal stamp on Sept. 19;
  • a Truth and Reconciliation issue on Sept. 29; and
  • the annual Diwali issue on Oct. 6.
