Last month, the American Philatelic Society (APS) hosted a Summit on the Future of Philately at the American Philatelic Center in Bellefonte, Penn.
Nearly 60 prominent philatelists participated in the summit in person or by phone while hundreds viewed the discussion online. A 10-page report of the Oct. 28 meeting is also available online.
There were three main areas of focus for the APS, including:
- the hobby’s branding (participants suggested being more “inclusive and descriptive” of the hobby, especially for non-collectors);
- increasing technological capabilities to reach a larger audience of collectors; and
- strengthening our ability to improve the marketplace.
More details about future meetings will be available soon.
