St. Catharines collector earns RPSC Volunteer Award

St. Catharines Stamp Club member Wilma Borger was recently presented with an award on behalf of The Royal Philatelic Society of Canada (RPSC) for her “significant contribution to philately.”

A recently retired school librarian, Borger was instrumental in organizing a stamp club for students of Jordan Christian School in Jordan, Ont., just west of St. Catharines. Her 35-year career began when the school opened its doors in 1984 and came to a close this June, at the end of the previous school year.

Borger was one of 22 philatelists whose volunteer honours were announced by RPSC officials this summer at the society’s annual Royal Convention.

Following The RPSC’s new strategic initiative – unveiled at the 2018 Royal Convention – the society is now recognizing volunteerism across the hobby, including both members and non-members.

This year, collectors from 14 clubs and seven provinces were honoured.
