The Chicago Philatelic Society (CPS) is celebrating its 130th anniversary this Nov. 18-20 at Chicagopex 2016, the club’s annual gathering.
The event will be held at the Westin Chicago Northwest in Itasca, Ill., which is about five hours east of the Detroit-Windsor border, and this year’s show theme is “Celebrating 60 Years of Europe Stamps.”
In addition to more than 300 frames of philatelic exhibits (including a section of literature exhibits); a Regency-Superior auction; and a 75-dealer bourse, the CPS will also welcome two convening societies to Chicagopex 2016: the American Air Mail Society and the Scandinavian Collectors Club.
The show will be open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday.’

Organized Oct. 8, 1886 in continuation of the Chicago Stamp Collectors Union, which was organized in December 1884, the CPS is Chapter No. 1 of the American Philatelic Society and one of only two organizations with the longest uninterrupted service to philately in the U.S. On the third Thursday of each month, the society holds meetings at downtown Chicago’s Harold Washington Library from 7 p.m.-9 p.m.
