Scott English, executive director of the American Philatelic Society (APS), announced his contract was renewed by the APS board of directors for another two years.
The decision to continue English’s contract was made official at the board of directors Aug. 2 meeting during the APS StampShow in Richmond, Va.
“I’d like to thank the board for renewing my contract and showing faith in the work that we’ve been doing,” said English during the meeting’s open session, at which point he also discussed the importance of philatelic societies working together.
“The AFDCS [American First Day Cover Society], the ATA [American Topical Association], the APS and a lot of other national organizations out there are not going to survive by constantly trying to do their own thing.”

English, who replaced former APS executive director Ken Martin, was introduced in August 2015 during the society’s annual StampShow, which was held in Grand Rapids, Mich. that year.
English previously worked as chief of staff for U.S. Representative Mark Sanford, of South Carolina, and as chief operating officer for South Carolina’s department of education.
