Continuing a yearly tradition, Canadian exhibitors have been invited to compete in a virtual single-frame exhibition hosted in South Africa each summer.
“Our friends in South Africa have once again kindly invited Canadian exhibitors to participate in this year’s South African Virtual Philatelic Exhibition (Savpex),” said David McLaughlin, chair of the Royal Philatelic Society of Canada (RPSC) international liaison committee.
Savpex applications must be received by show secretary Joof van der Merwe at jnc1@vodamail.co.za by May 16. Virtual exhibit scans must be sent for evaluation by June 20. They will be displayed publicly starting on June 25, and judging will be completed in July.
Exhibit fees – paid through PayPal – are $35 US (about $43 Cdn.).
The prospectus and entry form are available via stampssa.africa, the website of the Philatelic Federation of South Africa, which hosts Savpex.
VIRTUAL EXHIBITS AT FIP WORLDS
Last October, the Fédération Internationale de Philatélie (FIP) passed a motion to accept vermeil-winning exhibits from 2020-22 national virtual exhibitions at FIP world exhibitions in 2021 and 2022.
“As such, Savpex 2021 offers an excellent opportunity for Canadian exhibitors wishing to qualify for CAPEX 22,” McLaughlin said.
Last year, seven Canadian exhibitors entered 11 exhibits at Savpex 2020, competing against 80 entries from 14 countries. The jury included 25 international judges, including Robert Pinet, of Toronto.
