RPSC names new vice-president

Gregg Redner, of London, Ont., has signed on as the new vice-president of the Royal Philatelic Society of Canada (RPSC).

The RPSC board unanimously approved Redner for the role at its Feb. 5 meeting. Redner replaces late collector Ken Lemke, who died in December while serving the RPSC’s vice-president’s office plus several other roles across Organized Philately (“Ken Lemke remembered for dedication to philately,” CSN Vol. 47 #20, Jan. 17, 2023).

A lifelong collector, Redner specializes in Belgium, including the 1920 Summer Olympic issue and Belgian Railway stamps. In 2022, Redner was one of three Canadians to win a Chatty Award in recognition of their 2021 Stamp Chat presentations with the American Philatelic Society; his talk, which won the Destination Philately category, focused on the philately of the 1920 Olympics in Antwerp. In late 2021, Redner also guested on Conversations with Philatelists, a U.S.-based podcast hosted by Charles Epting and Michael Cortese, to discuss collecting Olympic stamps.

Redner serves as the music director at the Metropolitan United Church and as an assistant professor of music at the University of Western Ontario, both in his hometown of London.
