PHSC seeking database ‘reporters’

The Postal History Society of Canada (PHSC) website, which contains the world’s largest database of Canadian postal history information, is set for a complete update this year.

Leading up to the launch of the new site, PHSC officials are asking collectors of specific Canadian cancel periods or types to share their research and information.

“Better still, if you collect cancels from a period or area which our website is not yet set up in depth, we would like you to consider becoming the reporter for the area,” said PHSC President David Hobden, who added reporters have administrative access to the website to enter scans and dates for earliest or latest recorded dates, also known as ERDs and LRDs.

“What you and I do now will serve future generations of postal historians,” added Hobden.

“I look forward to the day when all provinces are as complete as Upper Canada.”
