OPP investigate multiple ‘superbox’ break-ins

Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue to investigate after someone broke into three Canada Post “superboxes” last week.

The first call came on March 19 around 9 p.m., when the community mailbox at the corner of Bricker Avenue and Clegg Drive in Elora was broken into. A second call came early the following morning after the box on Old Ruby Lane near Victoria Road in Puslinch had been damaged overnight. A third and final call was received later that day around 6 p.m., after a box on Wellington Road 29 in Guelph-Eramosa was broken into.

Police are unsure how much mail, if any, was stolen; however, Canada Post’s “superboxes” have been increasingly targeted by thieves since their widespread introduction into Canadian communities in 2013, so police are advising residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to 1-888-310-1122.
