The United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) recently issued a three-stamp special event mini-sheet to commemorate the FIAP 34th Asian International Stamp Exhibition in Melbourne, Australia.
The denominations of $1.15; two Swiss francs; and €1.70 showcase Australian animals, including the koala, the kangaroo and the emu. The background of the sheet features Uluru—also known as Ayers Rock—in Australia. The sheet was designed by Lindsey Thoeng.
The exhibition ran from March 30-April 2 and included a competitive exhibition as well as a non-competitive exhibition involving at least 200 frames for members of the Royal Philatelic Society of Victoria. The occasion marks the society’s 125th anniversary and continues a traditional of non-competitive exhibits for its centenary in 1992 and 75th anniversary in 1967.
