New Issue: La Poste teams up with French designer Olivier Rousteing on heart-shaped stamps

France’s postal service La Poste has announced it’s working alongside French fashion designer Olivier Rousteing—creative director of Balmain, the French fashion house founded by Pierre Balmain—for a new set of heart-shaped stamps.

Each year, La Poste collaborates with a French artist to design limited-edition stamps for its annual program. Past collaborations include fashion designers Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Lacroix, Coco Chanel and Jeanne Lanvin.

This year’s issue features black-and-white stripes and checkered patterns with floral accents and baroque swirls. A pastel background of greens and yellows is used.

According to a statement released by La Poste, the design of these heart-shaped stamps borrows from Balmain’s spring 2017 collection, which features a similar design aesthetic.

The French postal service said the stamps “evoke a poetic and loving spirit, reinforced by its heart shape.”

The stamps will be available at French post offices and online on Jan. 23.
