Montréal group marks 90 years

The Union des philatélistes de Montréal (UPM) celebrated its 90th anniversary by hosting the provincial exhibition EXUP 50 in Montréal on Oct. 27-28.

Founded in 1933, the UPM exhibition also saw the president of the Académie québécoise d’études philatéliques (AQEP) present the Médaille de l’Académie to François Brisse. The Médaille de l’Académie is occasionally presented to mark an exceptional achievement or a remarkable commitment to philately, according to the AQEP.

“François Brisse has made an exceptional contribution to Quebec and Canadian philately with the creation of more than 400 illustrated commemorative cancellations over the last 40 years,” said AQEP President Cimon Morin. Brisse is a Fellow of both the Royal Philatelic Society of Canada and the Société d’histoire postale du Québec. He has published nearly 100 articles, which are available on the AQEP website, aqep.net.

During the medal presentation, AQEP officials also presented a commemorative cover to all attending members.
