Mississauga club changes name

The former Credit Valley Stamp Club has changed its name to the Mississauga Stamp Club (MSC), according to President Ernest Ockenden, who came to the helm of the organization after the death of past president Bob Laker last year.

“The name change will hopefully nudge the local, Mississauga and Oakville stamp collectors to give this club a chance, visit them and get acquainted,” wrote Tom Malicki, PhilaJournal editor, in that publication’s spring 2020 issue.

The MSC meets on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at Christ Church on 1700 Mazo Cres., in Mississauga, from 7 p.m.-8 p.m.

“We have a silent auction with some free stamps for the taking,” added Ockenden. “Although we have not had any special speakers, our members speak freely about their special interest stamps and or covers from time to time.”

Ockenden is putting a call out for collectors in south Mississauga or east Oakville to join the newly renamed group.
