A collection of commemorative stamps featuring the late Filipino culinary icon Teresita “Mama Sita” Reyes have been donated to the Smithsonian National Postal Museum.
On Aug. 18, the Mama Sita Foundation officially donated the collection during a turnover ceremony held at the museum. The stamps were issued by the Philippine Postal Corporation in honour of Reyes’ influence on Philippine cuisine as well as her upcoming birth centenary in 2017.
“The stamps signify the flavours that the Philippine cuisine offers as well as the country’s vision of sharing our biodiversity to the rest of the world,” said Roberto Mercado, consultant and representative of the Mama Sita Foundation.
“We love to have it,” said Ted Wilson, of the Postal Museum’s Collections Department.
