HSPL director Sheila Moll retires

Sheila Moll, the long-time library director of the Harry Sutherland Philatelic Library (HSPL), has retired after more than a decade in that role.

Sheila Moll, the long-time library director of the Harry Sutherland Philatelic Library, has retired.

“She was the one who hired me to catalogue our library collection,” HSPL librarian Willow Moonbeam wrote in the December Friends of the Harry Sutherland Philatelic Library newsletter. “She worked tirelessly to set up the library system, directing all of the work. We will continue to benefit from the wisdom she showed in selecting methods for organizing and cataloguing the many unusual items found in a philatelic collection. Thank you Sheila for all that you have done to make the library the welcoming and useable place that it is today.”

Emily McKibbon, a Toronto-based writer and curator, has signed on as the HSPL’s new library manager. The former associate director and senior curator at the MacLaren Art Centre in Barrie, Ont., McKibbon has also worked in curatorial, collections and research capacities at several world-class institutions, including the Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles, Calif., and the National Museum of the Royal New Zealand Navy in Auckland, New Zealand.

The HSPL, which is managed by the Vincent Graves Greene Philatelic Research Foundation in Toronto, has also updated its newsletter to publish every two months starting in February. Previously, it was published monthly.
