Long-time philatelist and member of the Ottawa Philatelic Society (OPS) Jim Brennan died on April 7 at the age of 77.
Brennan studied history and fine art at the University of Toronto, where he graduated with a bachelor of arts in 1973. He then joined the staff of Ottawa’s newly formed National Postal Museum as a researcher before becoming the museum’s head curator. In 1988, he joined the National Archives of Canada, where he pursued work in philately and fine art. He spent 11 years as an art archivist in the archive’s documentary art and photography division until his retirement in 2005.
A visitation was held on April 10, and a service was held at St. Patrick’s Basilica on April 11.
