Five societies convening at Chicagopex 2019

Chicagopex, the annual bourse and exhibition of the Chicago Philatelic Society (CPS), will be held Nov. 22-24 in the village of Itasca, Ill., about 40 kilometres northwest of downtown Chicago and 500 kilometres from the Canada-U.S. border in Windsor, Ont.

A day before the show, on Nov. 21, philatelist and dealer James Lee will present a one-day “On the Road” course – entitled Essays and Proofs – on behalf of the American Philatelic Society (APS).

This year’s show will also host the annual conventions of the India Study Circle for Philately; Lithuania Philatelic Society; Polonus Polish Philatelic Society; Rossica Society of Russian Philately; and the Ukrainian Philatelic and Numismatic Society.

EXHIBITION & BOURSE

There will be more than 300 frames of philatelic material on display at this APS “World Series of Philately” event, and this year marks the 53rd anniversary of the show’s philatelic literature competition with books and other materials on display. This is one of only two such annual competitions in the U.S.

The show bourse will feature about 75 dealers from the U.S. and Europe, offering an array of material for everyone from the beginning collector to the specialist.

The U.S. Postal Service and the United Nations Postal Administration are also slated to attend the show, which will also include a beginners’ booth plus club meetings of the CPS as well as several other societies.

All meetings and talks during the show are free and open to the public.

Admission and parking are also free. The show will run from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday.
