‘Eastern hospitality,’ lobster and philately on tap for BNAPEX

People heading to Halifax, N.S. this September for BNAPEX, the annual convention of the British North America Philatelic Society, can expect to receive “an abundance of Eastern hospitality.”

That’s the commitment of this year’s co-chairs: Gary Steele, George Lafontaine and Jeff Parks. All three are members of the Nova Scotia Stamp Club, which is co-hosting this year’s convention with the BNAPS Atlantic Regional Group.

The three-day event officially opens on Friday, Sept. 15, and winds up Sunday evening with the popular awards banquet. However, dealers and exhibitors can set up on the Thursday.

“There will be all kinds of things people can do during and after each day,” says Steele.

Each convention day will feature seminars, study groups, the exhibition, and the popular bourse floor featuring up to 15 dealers from across Canada. While evenings are left open for attendees, Steele says there are plenty of events to join.

For example, participants can sign up for the lobster dinner on Friday evening at the Shore Club in Hubbards, which includes transportation. On Sunday evening, the awards banquet will be held at the convention venue – the Best Western Plus Dartmouth Hotel and Suites. And, organizers are hosting a hospitality suite each evening, starting on Sept. 14.
