Eastern Auctions releases Brigham, Lundeen preview catalogues

Previews of two dynamic auctions this August are now available to view on the Eastern Auctions Ltd. website.

The Brigham Estate Province of Canada Part II auction will be held on Aug. 18 while the Glen Lundeen Collection of the Admiral Issue of Canada Part II will take place on Aug. 19.

“Part II of the Brigham Estate showcases some of the very best and greatest rarities of the six-pence and ten-cent stamps, some personal favourites of the entire collection,” Eastern states on the opening page of the digital preview catalogue. “Among them are mint pairs of six-pence on laid and on wove paper, and also what is considered by many “the most outstanding piece in Canadian philately” — namely the block of 12 and single on cover.

Eastern says other rarities in later printing include the six-pence on thick soft fibrous paper in a horizontal mint OG strip of three, as well as a superb mint perforated six-pence grey violet shade. “Many of these key items were acquired by Brigham more than three decades ago.”

The one-day Brigham Estate sale will feature 157 lots. To view the preview digital catalogue, click here.

This 1918 three-cent dark brown Admiral, Die I, is considered an extraordinary Deputy Postmaster General approved and signed die proof.

Part II of the Glen Lundeen collection of the Admiral Issue of Canada goes on the auction block on Aug. 19.

“The collection represents the finest and most expansive offering of die proofs and plate multiples ever seen at auction,” states Eastern. “It also contains some of the rarest lathework and imperforate multiples.”
