An updated history of the Calgary Philatelic Society (CPS) is now available on the organization’s website.
In the January issue of the club’s monthly newsletter, the Calgary Philatelist, there is a story on Dale Speirs’ update of the club’s history to the end of 2022. The latest edition is entitled 100 Years Of The Calgary Philatelic Society.
“If you downloaded the previous version, please replace it with the third edition,” the article states, which adds the book is available to everyone as a free digital download.
To download a copy, go to the CPS’s website, click on “About Us,” scroll down to “Club History” and click on the link for the history document.
The article also announced Speirs is stepping down as club historian, “and he will leave it to someone else to write up the second century of CPS.”
In the author’s forward, Speirs writes he took a month’s vacation in February 1989 and spent five to six hours every day compiling the club’s history, researching “two-metre stack of records in the CPS Archives page by page.”
