According to a recent story in Canada Post Magazine, last Christmas was a blockbuster for the Crown corporation, shattering every previous parcel delivery record during the holiday period, which includes November, December and the first two weeks of January.
Among the highlights of the recent holiday season was a 26-day stretch, during which Canada Post delivered one million parcels. That’s 10 more million-parcel days compared to the same period last year. It was only four years ago – on Dec. 13, 2012 – when Canada Post delivered one million parcels on a single day for the first time.
Of those 26 days, 20 were consecutive, with one million or more parcels delivered on each business day from Nov. 28-Dec. 23.
An all-time single-day record for parcels delivered to Canadians – 1.52 million – was also set on Dec. 5, 2016. That was the equivalent of delivering about 3,620 parcels a minute.
