Canadian official now a literature judge

Ed Kroft, of Vancouver, B.C., will complete his second and final apprenticeship session as a literature judge in conjunction with the Sarasota National Stamp Exhibition this January.

Already a nationally and internationally accredited judge with the Royal Philatelic Society of Canada (RPSC), which he also serves as president, Kroft will add a literature accreditation to his rank following the World Series of Philately show, which is expected to go ahead as planned on Jan. 21-23 in Sarasota, Fla.

An RPSC Fellow, Kroft is joined on the literature jury by chief judge Peter McCann, of University Park, Fla.; Patricia StilwellWalker, also of University Park; and Hal Vogel, of Willingboro, N.J. The exhibition features 32 literature exhibits (including two from the RPSC’s Canadian Philatelist), which can be viewed at sarasotastampclub.com along with the synopses from the 39 regular exhibits.

The show also boasts more than 30 dealers, including St. Catharines, Ont.’s Roy Houtby, the owner of Roy’s Stamps, plus six convening societies and more than a dozen meetings and seminars.
