A new book highlighting union-issued cinderella stamps is now available for free via the British North America Philatelic Society’s “Online Resources and Exhibits” (ORE).
Written by Clayton Rubec and Ron Lafrenière, the book focuses on “the stamps created to help unions operating in Canada to organize dues payment systems,” according to its introduction.
“These systems were first introduced in 1842 onward to the late 1970s but dues stamps did not appear until about 1880.”
The 152-page book describes, lists and illustrates the stamps issued by unions in Canada and Newfoundland as well as U.S.-based international unions with local branches in Canada and Newfoundland.
