Brigham, Denninger collections set for auction on Oct. 4-5

Eastern Auctions is gearing up for a highly anticipated two-day auction on Oct. 4-5, 2024, where two of the most prominent philatelic collections in Canadian history — the Brigham Estate and Denninger Collection — will be offered.

The auction opens on Friday, Oct. 4, with the final installment of the Brigham Estate’s Province of Canada Collection. Assembled by the late Ron Brigham, this collection is a cornerstone of Canadian philately, showcasing some of the rarest Province of Canada Pence and Cents stamps, including proofs, multiples, and postal history gems. It’s a landmark sale, considered the most significant since the famed Dale-Lichtenstein auction more than 50 years ago.

On Saturday, Oct. 5, the spotlight shifts to the first sale of the Denninger Collection, a spectacular compilation of British North American philately. The Denninger Collection stands out for its breadth, offering some of the finest stamps and covers from British Columbia, the Maritime Provinces, and Newfoundland. As the first of four planned sales, this installment is focused on British North America, highlighting rarities that make it one of the most comprehensive collections in its field.

Both auctions at Eastern’s Bathurst, N.B. office will begin at 1:30 p.m. AT (12:30 p.m. EST) each day.

The auctions will take place at Eastern Auctions’ offices, with live floor bidding and pre-sale viewing available for in-person participants. Collectors worldwide can also participate through online bidding with real-time audio and video capabilities.

For additional details or to register for online bidding, visit the Eastern Auctions website or contact ron@easternauctions.com.

These back-to-back auctions are set to draw global interest, providing a rare chance to acquire some of the most celebrated and sought-after philatelic rarities in Canadian history.
