Toronto philatelist Michel Houde has received another honour for his 2021 book, British Consulate Post Office at Bangkok 1855-1885.
The Hong Kong Study Circle (HKSC) has bestowed on Houde its 2022 Webb Cup – annually presented for the year’s best original research article – for his book exploring Bangkok’s postal history and social philately from the stampless era until 1885, when the British Consulate Post Office closed in the Thai capital.
A long-time HKSC member, Houde also received the 2013 Webb Cup for his work on the group’s website, hongkongstudycircle.com.
The HKSC first awarded the Webb Cup – named after Francis Webb, a reputable philatelist and British Army officer – in 1963.
Earlier this year, Houde’s book also earned the Herbert Dubé Lectureship Award, the highest honour of the Philatelic Specialists Society of Canada.
