Canada Post will unveil a new stamp issue celebrating Quebec’s sugar shack tradition during this week’s Cabane Panache festival in Montréal’s Verdun borough.
The stamps, which pay tribute to the province’s iconic temps des sucres season, will be officially revealed March 19 at 6:15 p.m. on the festival’s main stage. The public unveiling marks the centrepiece of a three-day presence by Canada Post at the popular outdoor event.
The new issue features two illustrated stamps shaped like traditional maple syrup cans, reflecting a long-standing symbol of Quebec’s maple syrup industry. Sugaring-off season marks the annual harvest of maple sap, which is boiled down into syrup, sugar and taffy and celebrated each spring at sugar shacks across the province.
Following the unveiling, the stamps will be on display throughout the festival, which runs March 19 to 21 along Promenade Wellington. Canada Post will host a dedicated space near the festival’s forest area where visitors can view the stamps and take part in a themed photo booth experience.
Cabane Panache is billed as Quebec’s largest maple syrup music festival and draws thousands of visitors each year for a mix of live performances, food and traditional sugaring-off activities. The event is free and open to the public.
The stamp launch highlights the cultural importance of sugar shacks in Quebec, where the annual season remains a key part of the province’s heritage and identity.
