All Nations launches milestone 1,550th auction

A landmark auction and a new era converge this month as All Nations Stamp and Coin presents its 1,550th sale, a premium 200 lot event that underscores the firm’s long standing presence in Canadian philately while marking its recent transition in ownership.

Founded in 1949, the Vancouver based collectibles firm has been a steady fixture in the marketplace for more than 75 years. Last month, longtime owner Brian Grant Duff passed the gavel to Firmin Wyndels, ensuring continuity while positioning the business for continued growth. The milestone auction arrives at a symbolic moment for the company.

Classic Canada leads the sale

Strong Canadian material anchors the anniversary offering.

A VF mint lightly hinged example of the 1932 three cent George V Medallion, Die I, Rotary Press, Scott 197b, appears as Lot 32. Approximately 150 pairs are recorded, and the stamp carries a catalogue value of $350.

Collectors of Newfoundland will find a VF mint hinge remnant imperforate pair of the 1933 Labrador Airmail, Scott C15a, listed as Lot 135. Expertized by Sanabria and showing right margin, the pair is catalogued at $900.

Early British Columbia postal history is represented by a circa 1862 incoming cover to Nanaimo from Victoria, offered as Lot 7. Bearing the blue oval Post Office PAID, Victoria Vancouver Island marking and addressed to Cunningham Bros., hardware merchants, the cover shows minor faults but remains stronger than typically encountered examples from this period of Vancouver Island mail.

The sale further features more than 40 Canada and Provinces imperforate pairs, Canadian Errors, Freaks and Varieties, semi official issues and proofs, and the notable 10-cent Resource Missing G variety.

The international section includes the United States 1847 five-cent Franklin imperforate, Scott 1, offered as Lot 189. The VF used example with blue postmark is listed at US $465 in the 2026 Scott catalogue.

Great Britain mint high values from Queen Victoria through Edward VII are also included, alongside selections from the British Commonwealth and worldwide issues.

Gold collectors will note a 1931 George V Australian sovereign from the Perth mint, appearing as Lot 193. Struck in 91.7 per cent gold with an actual gold weight of 0.2355 ounces, the coin adds precious metal interest to the predominantly philatelic catalogue.

A weekly tradition continues

All Nations conducts online auctions every Saturday beginning at 12 noon, with bid updates posted midweek and on Fridays. Floor bidding for the 1,550th milestone sale begins at 1:30 p.m. PT on March 7 at 5630 Dunbar Street in Vancouver, with online, agent and telephone bidding options available.

The anniversary sale not only highlights premium material but also signals continuity for a firm that has helped Canadian collectors since 1949. Under new ownership, All Nations continues its weekly auction tradition while celebrating a notable milestone in its history.
