Ukraine’s Ukrposhta has become the world’s first postal service to launch a seller’s account on eBay, the popular international marketplace with more than 142 million active customers across 190 countries.
Since May 25, the account has been live at ebay.com/usr/ukrposhta_jsc, where Ukrposhta offers stamps, envelopes plus themed clothing and magnets shipped to “any corner of the world,” according to the postal service’s eBay profile.
Ukrposhta CEO Igor Smelyansky said this spring that the postal service’s stamps have “become popular not only in Ukraine but also in the world. I know that a lot of foreigners want to buy commemorative stamps. For their convenience, we have launched this eBay store to enable shopping from anywhere in the world.”
Ukrposhta’s eBay account also includes a charitable feature: $5 from each purchase of Ukraine’s recent Russian warship issues (“Defiant Ukrainian stamp hits back at Russia,” CSN Vol. 47 #3, May 24, 2022) will go towards the Kyiv School of Economics Charitable Foundation fund. All funds raised will be directed to assistance for schools, humanitarian shipping logistics and other humanitarian aid.
