Sparks Auctions will welcome collectors and dealers to its Ottawa office on Saturday, July 12, for its 13th in-person Floor Bid Sale, an event known for its fast-paced bidding and hands-on viewing experience.
Set to take place at 1770 Woodward Dr., the one-day event features more than 140 lots of stamps, covers, collections, face-value postage, philatelic literature, and collecting supplies – all packed into over 160 containers. This sale is exclusively in-person, with no online bidding available. Lot viewing begins at 8 a.m. (ET) and continues until just before bidding starts at 1 p.m., with no appointment necessary.
A popular highlight of the sale is the availability of hundreds of titles in philatelic literature, which will be offered at retail during the event – providing collectors with a chance to enhance their libraries with reference materials and specialized resources.
Sparks’ previous Floor Bid Sales have consistently attracted enthusiastic attendees from across Ontario and Québec, many drawn by the opportunity to discover hidden gems and take their purchases home the same day – no shipping required. The July 12 event promises a lively and social atmosphere, complete with coffee, cookies, and lunch-time pizza for bidders.
Bidding opens at just $10 per lot, with increments of $10, and all lots are sold to the highest bidder on the floor. Winners pay for and pick up their items immediately after the sale concludes.
