Collectors from across Canada will gather in Mississauga on Sept. 6–7 for the National Postage Stamp & Coin Show, a two-day event that brings together dealers, literature, photography, and expert knowledge under one roof.
Taking place at the Hilton Mississauga/Meadowvale, the show floor is sold out, with nearly 50 of the country’s top philatelic and numismatic dealers expected to showcase new material for the fall season. From rare stamps and postal history to coins, medals, and supplies, attendees can expect a wide variety of fresh stock.
One of the biggest draws this year is Robin Harris, editor of the newly released Trajan Canada Specialized Stamp Catalogue. Harris will be at the show all weekend to autograph copies of the inaugural edition, which uses the Scott Numbering System and includes Canada-only listings. Copies will also be available for purchase at the Canadian Stamp News and Canadian Coin News tables at the show entrance.
The bourse also welcomes several first-time exhibitors. Howard Engel of Winnipeg’s Richard Stockley Books is bringing a carefully curated selection of philatelic literature, ranging from classic handbooks to rare, long out-of-print works sought after by advanced specialists. Engel, a well-known philatelic bibliophile, has built a reputation for tracking down hard-to-find titles that are often unavailable elsewhere. Collectors interested in strengthening their research libraries will find his booth a highlight of the show.
Denis Richard of Coin Photography Studio is also making his debut, offering on-site, professional-grade photography for coins, medals, tokens, and select philatelic material. With more than 30 years of experience, Richard has provided high-resolution images for collectors, dealers, auction houses, and even museums. At the show, attendees will have the rare opportunity to have their items expertly photographed on the spot, with each customer able to submit up to 10 pieces. His work is prized for capturing sharp detail and true-to-life colour – essential for both documentation and display. Advance inquiries can be sent to coinphotographystudio@gmail.com.
Returning favourites include the Harry Sutherland Library Book Sale, hosted by the Vincent Graves Greene Philatelic Research Foundation, offering surplus books and journals from Canada and abroad at discounted prices. The sale is cash-only, with proceeds supporting the Greene’s work as a leading philatelic institution.
Young collectors are again in the spotlight with the Youth Table and Auction on Sunday, run by RCNA youth program coordinator Cassidy Stroud. Registration for the free auction opens at noon, with the sale starting at 1 p.m.
The National Postage Stamp & Coin Show runs Saturday, Sept. 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $6 on Saturday and $3 on Sunday, with free parking available.
