Canadian named to Boston 2026 selection panel

Renowned Canadian philatelist Charles Verge will help shape one of the world’s most anticipated stamp exhibitions after being appointed to the Selection Advisory Committee for the Boston 2026 World Expo.

A past president of the Royal Philatelic Society of Canada (RPSC), Verge joins three other internationally respected philatelists on the committee, which is responsible for selecting the exhibition’s philatelic and literature entries and advising on jury composition. Verge is also an accredited judge at both the American Philatelic Society (APS) and Fédération Internationale de Philatélie (FIP) levels and is known for his award-winning exhibits and international service. In 2020, he was added to the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists, one of the hobby’s highest honours.

Joining Verge are Darrell Ertzberger, chair of the APS Committee on Accreditation of National Exhibitions and Judges (CANEJ); Peter McCann, a past APS president and board member; and James Mazepa, past president of the Inter American Federation of Philately and chair of the APS International Committee. Reinaldo Macedo, the exhibition’s FIP consultant, will also support the committee.

“The new committee will begin their work shortly after the deadline of Sept. 30 for philatelic entries and Jan. 30 for literature entries,” said Thomas M. Fortunato, Boston 2026 public relations chair. “Their selections should be finalized by 45 days afterwards.”

Recently elevated to a General World Philatelic Exhibition under FIP patronage, Boston 2026 is accepting exhibit applications from all FIP classes, including the Championship Class and the experimental First Day Cover class.

The Boston 2026 World Expo is a prestigious international philatelic exhibition set for May 23–30, 2026, at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. Full show details are available at Boston2026.org.
