Canadian exhibitors are being encouraged to consider taking part in Slovphilex 2027, an upcoming specialized world philatelic championship exhibition slated for Bratislava, Slovakia, from June 30 to July 4, 2027.
Held under the patronage of the Fédération Internationale de Philatélie (FIP), the international exhibition will take place at the Slovak National Gallery and is expected to attract exhibitors from around the world.
Ed Kroft, who has been named the Canadian commissioner for the event, is currently seeking applications from collectors across the country. The deadline for Canadian entries is July 31, 2026.
Kroft said the exhibition presents an important opportunity for Canadian philatelists to display their collections in an international setting.
Competitive entries will be accepted in several classes, including Traditional Philately, Postal History, Thematic Philately, Revenue, Open Philately and Picture Postcards. Multi-frame exhibits will be featured alongside one-frame and non-standard entries ranging from one to three frames.
A philatelic literature section will also be part of the exhibition, with entries accepted in categories such as monographs, journals and digital publications. Eligibility rules stipulate that handbook and special study submissions must have been published within five years of the exhibition, while other literature entries must have appeared within the previous two years.
Exhibitors must also meet international qualification standards. Five-frame exhibits require a minimum vermeil-level result — or 75 points — at the national level in Canada. Eight-frame exhibits must previously have earned at least a large vermeil medal at an FIP exhibition.
Successful applicants are expected to be notified by Oct. 31, 2026. Exhibit fees and title pages must then be submitted by Dec. 31, 2026.
Fees have been set at €120 per competitive frame, while one-frame exhibits will cost €140. Literature entries are priced at €80 each.
